The Research Analyst (Economics) will contribute to a project initiated by UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Arab States in collaboration with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF). The project supports Arab States in building knowledge-based societies through data-driven reports like the Global Knowledge Index (GKI) and FutureSkills4All initiative.
Key Responsibilities
Research and Analysis
-
Conduct quantitative and econometric analyses on economic data.
-
Use advanced statistical methods such as regression, time series, and forecasting.
-
Write policy briefs, think-pieces, and empirical research on economic trends.
-
Prepare thematic reports and strategic economic analyses.
-
Support knowledge product development with data-driven insights.
Data Collection and Management
-
Lead collection, verification, and analysis of economic data.
-
Develop methodologies for econometric analysis.
-
Ensure accuracy and integrity of data in project outputs.
Knowledge Product Development
-
Design analytical reports, policy briefs, and data visualizations.
-
Collaborate on producing the GKI and other indices with comprehensive economic analysis.

Manage advisory board members and consultants, including drafting ToRs and RfPs.
-
Supervise consultants and ensure high-quality deliverables.
Policy Advice and Project Support
-
Provide expert advice on economic policies and strategies.
-
Coordinate advisory board meetings and engage with technical experts.
-
Analyze and propose improvements to composite indices like the GKI.
-
Manage and supervise project personnel and consultants.
Event and Workshop Coordination
-
Organize workshops, seminars, and conferences focused on economic themes.

Develop content and coordinate logistics for productive discussions.
Qualifications
Education
-
Advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Social Sciences, or related field is required.

Alternatively, Bachelor’s degree plus 2 additional years of relevant experience will be considered.
Experience
-
Minimum 2 years (with Master’s) or 4 years (with Bachelor’s) in economic research, data analysis, and policy development.
-
Experience in similar roles in local, regional, or international organizations is preferred.
-
Experience working in the Arab States region is a plus.

Proficiency in econometric modeling and report development.
Skills
-
Strong proficiency in statistical software and data management.
-
Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
-
Fluency in Arabic and English required; knowledge of French is an asset.
