Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), one of the world’s largest aluminium producers, is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer – EX Process Control to join its operations team in Abu Dhabi. This role is critical to driving process efficiency, innovation, and operational excellence across both smelter sites, with a focus on achieving EGA’s ambitious target of 2.7 Mt of hot metal production. The Lead Engineer will lead a team of engineers, support smelter management in resolving production challenges, and spearhead initiatives in Industry 4.0, AI, and advanced process control technologies.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and execute mid-to-long-term strategies to improve smelter efficiency and process performance.

Provide technical support to smelter management to resolve critical production issues.

Identify, plan, and deliver continuous improvement and debottlenecking projects.

Translate business challenges into innovative growth initiatives and technological advancements.

Implement and promote Industry 4.0 practices, AI models, IIOT systems, and machine learning tools to drive process automation and efficiency.

Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering innovation, creativity, and operational excellence.

Ensure governance, compliance, and best practices across reduction operations.

Oversee product quality assurance, lean manufacturing initiatives, and process safety compliance.

Collaborate across EGA sites and with external partners to benchmark and improve performance.

Promote EGA at industry forums, conferences, and technical symposiums to strengthen its global reputation.
Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical, Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum 8 years of experience in smelting operations, with at least 3 years in managerial roles (preferably aluminium smelting).

Hands-on experience in data science projects and digital transformation.

Strong knowledge of data analytics tools such as Python, R, SQL, Power BI, DataRobot, Azure.

Proven ability to apply machine learning, algorithms, and data mining techniques to process optimization.

In-depth knowledge of aluminium production processes, pot room operations, and reduction technology.

Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and team management skills.

Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and continuous improvement mindset.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-throughput production environment with instant decision-making requirements.
