Job Overview:
The Food Technologist will be responsible for creating and applying product formulations in response to customer briefs, optimizing costs, raw materials, and processes for both new and existing products. This role includes technical leadership in product scale-ups, localization of global product recipes, and ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Creation & Application:

Develop products based on customer opportunity briefs, ensuring successful application and cost optimization.

Handle raw material rationalization and process optimization for both new and existing products.

Lead scale-up efforts for new products in customer facilities, providing technical guidance to ensure smooth transitions.
Customer Collaboration:
-
Work closely with customers on processing technical solutions and application designs based on their infrastructure and capabilities.

Provide input to the sales team regarding processing know-how and customer queries.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
-
Maintain strong relationships with R&D, planning, quality, and production teams.

Participate in cross-functional task forces to support company initiatives.
Regulatory Compliance & Security:
-
Ensure all marketed products comply with national regulatory requirements and internal policies, including packaging communications and import procedures.

Maintain the security of product formulas and other confidential information.
Market Knowledge & Product Development:

Stay updated on market trends, particularly in the coatings and meat industries.

Possess knowledge of end-use applications for sauces, dressings, and marinades.

Provide insights into the manufacturing process, machinery, and equipment involved in food production.
Leadership & Talent Management:

Supervise and manage team members in accordance with Griffith Foods’ policies.

Plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; motivate and discipline employees.

Participate in hiring, training, and developing talent within the team.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Functional Knowledge:
-
Knowledge of coatings and the meat industry preferred.
-
Proven track record in scale-up processes and factory trials.
-
Understanding of the B2C model is an advantage.

Familiarity with local regulations (e.g., FSSAI, GSO, SFDA, CODEX, ADAFSA).
Business Expertise:
-
M Tech/MSc (Food Technology) or related technical degree.
-
10-12 years of experience in food technology, with expertise in coatings, marinades, seasonings, and protein snacks.

Knowledge of freezer-to-fryer and freezer-to-oven product development.
Leadership Skills:
-
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
-
Proficiency in project and process management, with a focus on cost reduction, process improvements, and new product development.
