Job Description:
Standard Chartered is seeking a skilled and motivated Employee Relations (ER) Specialist (UAE National) to support the implementation of the ER agenda in alignment with the Group’s global strategy. This role is critical in fostering a culture of trust and compliance, ensuring employee needs are aligned with organizational goals, and providing expert guidance on ER issues.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the country ER strategy aligned with global objectives, local business requirements, and applicable laws.

  • Engage with employee representative bodies (e.g., unions) and manage collective bargaining agreements where applicable.

  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to identify, assess, and mitigate employee-related risks and ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Guide HR Business Partners and People Leaders through complex ER cases such as redundancies, disciplinary issues, and grievances.

  • Facilitate a performance-driven culture by advising on restructuring and workforce management.

  • Deliver training on ER practices and legal updates; provide analytics on employee engagement to inform leadership decision-making.


Skills & Experience:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; adept at building trusted relationships across all levels.

  • Prior experience as an ER Specialist or HR Business Partner, with comprehensive HR generalist knowledge.

  • In-depth understanding of local employment legislation and regulatory frameworks.

  • Proficiency in change management, consulting, and managing confidential investigations.

  • Banking or financial services experience is preferred.

  • Commercial awareness, team orientation, and ability to navigate complex, multicultural environments.
