Data Privacy & Security Engineer
VaporVM Dubai , UAE

VaporVM is seeking a highly skilled Data Privacy & Security Engineer to join their UAE team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in data privacy, security engineering, and compliance with global and regional privacy laws. This role focuses on embedding privacy-by-design principles and developing robust data protection controls to safeguard sensitive information.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement privacy-by-design and default principles within systems, processes, and products.

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce data protection controls such as encryption, anonymization, access controls, and secure storage.

  • Ensure compliance with privacy regulations including GDPR, CCPA, UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), and others.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, legal, and compliance teams to integrate privacy and security into product lifecycles.

  • Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).

  • Monitor and audit data usage to identify and mitigate privacy risks and incidents.

  • Develop and maintain incident response plans for data privacy and security breaches.

  • Lead training and awareness initiatives to promote data privacy best practices across the organization.

  • Evaluate and integrate advanced privacy-enhancing technologies and solutions.


Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or related field.

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in data privacy, security engineering, or similar roles.

  • Strong knowledge of privacy laws and regulations (GDPR, CCPA, UAE PDPL, etc.).

  • Hands-on experience with data protection technologies such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP), encryption, Identity Access Management (IAM), etc.

  • Proven experience conducting PIAs and DPIAs.

  • Professional certifications preferred: CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, CISSP, or equivalent.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to communicate complex privacy concepts clearly.

  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively across departments.
