Sharjah American International School (SAIS), a leading K–12 institution following the American curriculum, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join its Dubai campus. This full-time, on-site role is pivotal in shaping inclusive education across the school by leading the provision for students of determination. The SENCO will work closely with school leadership to ensure strategic development and effective implementation of SEN policies, while also supporting teaching and learning in the areas of inclusion, EAL, and gifted & talented education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate SEN provision across the school, ensuring alignment with UAE and international standards (KHDA, SPEA, MoE).
• Monitor and evaluate the quality of SEN support and ensure systems are regularly reviewed and improved.
• Update and manage SEF, IEPs, and SIPs in collaboration with teaching staff.
• Support student transitions across school stages and coordinate with external agencies and exam boards.
• Promote inclusive teaching practices and provide professional development opportunities for staff.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and support plans.
• Modify assessments and exams to meet individual student needs.
• Track and report on the progress of vulnerable groups and students of determination.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or an equivalent qualification.
• 3–5 years of experience working with students of determination in an educational setting.

Skills & Knowledge:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
• Proficiency in MS Office; advanced Excel skills are a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently.
• Experience in data analysis, drafting exams, and educational documentation.
