Role Overview: Senior Underwriter – Divisional Leader (MGA)

This senior role sits at the helm of the underwriting division, reporting directly to the Regional CEO and working closely with the global head office. The successful candidate will bring deep insurance market experience, global broker and reinsurer relationships, and the strategic insight needed to scale underwriting performance in a fast-growing MGA environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of the underwriting business plan in alignment with regional and global objectives.

• Develop and manage high-value relationships with brokers, reinsurers, and major global clients.

• Evaluate and underwrite complex risks in line with market conditions and internal guidelines.

• Provide portfolio performance analysis, insights, and corrective strategies where necessary.

• Stay ahead of industry and regulatory trends to ensure underwriting standards remain competitive and compliant.

• Collaborate with senior leadership to optimize product development, pricing, and risk appetite strategies.

Candidate Requirements

Experience & Background

• Extensive underwriting experience in a specialized insurance class (e.g., property, casualty, specialty lines).

• Proven track record handling international insurance portfolios.

• Strong, established network of capacity providers, reinsurers, and global brokers.

• Experience in a leadership or divisional head role within an MGA, insurer, or reinsurer.

Education & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.

• Professional qualification in insurance or reinsurance is highly preferred (e.g., ACII, CPCU).

• Strong analytical, commercial, and communication skills.

• Ability to operate in a global reporting structure, balancing local execution with global strategy.
