About the Role:

We are recruiting on behalf of a UAE-based client, a leading player in the petrochemical and refining industry. The Senior Process Engineer will play a key role in a world-class, grass-roots petrochemical and refining project, overseeing early engineering design, FEED, and EPC phases.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Participation & Planning:

• Represent the client in a major petrochemical project from initial engineering through execution.
• Develop the project scope of work and Basis of Design.
• Provide process inputs and compile ITB packages for pre-FEED and FEED phases.
• Evaluate bidding proposals and participate in the selection of engineering contractors.

Technology & Process Design:

• Assist in the pre-qualification and selection of technology providers and process licensors.
• Review and evaluate Preliminary Design Packages (PDPs) and Basic Design Packages.
• Provide key process design inputs, including plant configuration and material selection.
• Conduct process design analysis using simulation software (Aspen PIMS, Aspen Plus, HYSYS, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Coordination & Documentation:

• Collaborate with engineering contractors, licensors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Review process documentation, including BFDs/PFDs, process philosophies, specifications, and layouts.
• Participate in risk assessments and mitigate process-related issues.
• Ensure timely delivery of engineering packages while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Problem-Solving & Reporting:

• Troubleshoot complex process-related issues during design and execution.
• Prepare and present technical reports and recommendations to senior management.
• Work proactively in cross-functional teams, contributing to decision-making processes.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Petrochemistry.
• 10+ years of experience in downstream process engineering, ideally in large-scale petrochemical/refining projects.

Technical Expertise:

• Expertise in petrochemical & refining technologies and licensor’s PDP review.
• Hands-on experience in designing ISBL and OSBL facilities.
• Proficiency in Aspen PIMS, Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar process simulation software.
• Strong understanding of process optimization, safety, and compliance regulations.

Soft Skills & Additional Qualities:

• Strong communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Fluency in English (Arabic is a plus).
• Willingness to travel internationally as required.
• Contract Duration: Initial 12+ months.
