Senior Mechanical Engineer – Pumping Station Design (Sewage & Stormwater)

CDM Smith is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of large-scale sewage and stormwater pumping station projects across the GCC. This role requires deep technical knowledge, proven client engagement skills, and hands-on design experience with multidisciplinary infrastructure systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical engineering design for complex sewage and stormwater pump stations and long rising mains.

• Develop technical documentation including P&IDs, pump station layout and general arrangement drawings, mechanical design reports, and control philosophies.

• Coordinate closely with EICA (Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation), MEP, HVAC, and Odour Control teams.

• Perform technical calculations: hydraulics, NPSH, surge analysis, pump selection, pipe materials, fittings, and valve specifications.

• Participate in technical meetings with clients and government authorities; deliver presentations, address feedback, and obtain design approvals.

• Ensure full compliance with local regulatory bodies such as DM, DEWA, RTA, TAQA SWS, ADM, ADDC, and others.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).

• 10–15 years of experience in sewerage and stormwater infrastructure projects, including wet well/dry well designs and pressure main hydraulics.

• Expertise in detailed design documentation, tender packages, and IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings.

• Strong experience in UAE/GCC infrastructure projects and engagement with regional authorities.

• Excellent interpersonal and client-facing communication skills.
