Job Title: Senior Materials Engineer

Employment Type: Full-Time, 3-6 Month Contract (with potential to transition to permanent staff)

Location: Dubai, UAE

Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Materials Engineer to join our esteemed Tier 1 Main Contracting Client’s team for exciting and high-profile new build projects in Dubai. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with proven expertise in material engineering on large-scale construction projects, particularly in the UAE. Successful candidates will have a solid background in project materials management with a preference for those with experience working in renowned Main Contracting Companies.

This role is available for immediate joining and offers the potential for a transition to permanent staff after 6 months if mutually agreed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review material submittals and secure necessary approvals in compliance with project specifications and standards.

  • Act as the central point of contact for the scheduling and management of construction materials and equipment on-site.

  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure work complies with contract specifications and quality standards.

  • Coordinate the activities of subcontractors for material testing, ensuring all testing meets the required specifications.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including material inspections and daily diaries.

  • Prepare detailed daily reports and other project-related documentation as required by the contract.

  • Ensure that only approved materials are incorporated into construction work.

  • Identify potential issues or conflicts related to materials and report them to the supervisor with suggested solutions.

  • Collect, review, and store Certificates of Compliance, MSDS, inspection tags, and other related documents.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and staff as required.

  • Contribute to the development of job safety practices and prepare related safety reports.

  • Assist in the preparation and development of quality control reports and procedures.

  • Perform engineering calculations and generate relevant graphs, charts, and other visual data representations.

  • Monitor the proper storage and delivery of materials to ensure compliance with approved plans.

Requirements:

  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Materials Engineer with a background in working on major new build projects for recognized Main Contractor companies in the UAE.

  • Industry Experience: Prior experience in the construction of Malls, High-Rise Buildings, and Hotel projects is highly advantageous.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical plans, drawings, and specifications, with thorough knowledge of construction processes relevant to materials management.

  • Proficiency in English (both written and verbal), with strong communication skills for clear reporting and documentation.

  • Competency in basic mathematical calculations required for engineering analysis and reporting.

  • Ability to recognize and resolve potential conflicts related to materials and construction methods.

Additional Information:

  • The role is initially for a 3-6 month contract, with the possibility of transitioning to permanent employment after this period.

  • Successful candidates will join a dynamic team working on some of the most prestigious construction projects in Dubai.
