About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced and results-driven Geotechnical Design Engineer to join our team at Profound Contracting. This role focuses on designing, analyzing, and optimizing geotechnical systems, including piling, shoring, excavation support, and ground improvement techniques. The ideal candidate will collaborate with clients, consultants, and project teams to deliver technically sound, cost-efficient, and compliant solutions for foundation and geotechnical works.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform geotechnical analysis and design for piling and shoring systems, including bored piles, secant/contiguous pile walls, sheet piling, H-beam retaining walls, and anchoring systems.
• Design and evaluate various ground improvement techniques to enhance soil stability and bearing capacity.
• Conduct soil-structure interaction studies, settlement analysis, bearing capacity assessments, and liquefaction risk evaluations.
• Prepare structural and geotechnical calculations, design reports, and technical documentation, ensuring compliance with project specifications and international standards.
• Develop value-engineered solutions to optimize material usage, construction costs, and project feasibility.
• Perform geotechnical risk assessments and incorporate mitigation strategies into designs.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, regulatory bodies, and project teams to align designs with site conditions and approval requirements.
• Review and approve shop drawings, method statements, and technical submittals to ensure constructability and design compliance.
• Provide on-site technical support and troubleshoot design-related challenges during project execution.
• Ensure adherence to local and international engineering codes, including BS, Eurocodes, ACI, ASTM, and Dubai Municipality guidelines.
• Maintain design calculations, technical reports, and engineering records in line with the Integrated Management System (IMS).
• Assist in authority approvals and regulatory discussions to streamline project execution.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes, quality control, and innovation.

Key Authorities:

• Approve geotechnical design reports and structural calculations.
• Validate shop drawings and technical submittals to meet project requirements.
• Recommend design modifications for efficiency and cost reduction.
• Coordinate with external consultants and regulatory authorities for technical approvals.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering is a plus).
• Dubai Municipality (DM) accreditation/approval is preferred.
• Proficiency in geotechnical and structural design software such as PLAXIS, DeepEX, Wallap, SAFE, STAAD.Pro, and GeoStudio.
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and excavation support systems.
• Ability to interpret geotechnical investigation reports, borehole logs, and laboratory test results.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, analytical mindset, and attention to detail.
• Leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior engineers and oversee multiple projects.
• Proactive and adaptable to changing project requirements and site conditions.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in geotechnical design for piling and shoring projects.
