Job Title: Senior Data Scientist 

Job Description:

Al Futtaim Group (AFG) is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Senior Data Scientist to lead the development and deployment of cross-functional data science use cases. Reporting directly to the Head of Data Science, this role focuses on leveraging AI, machine learning, and cloud technologies to maximize ROI through predictive, forecasting, and optimization models.

The Senior Data Scientist will also play a crucial role in mentoring junior team members, establishing scalable protocols, and ensuring that data science practices remain innovative and future-ready.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Head of Data Science, Head of Analytics Strategy, and vendors to identify impactful analytics opportunities across AFG businesses.

• Lead delivery of use cases by building advanced analytic models applied to both structured and unstructured data.

• Conduct data quality checks, extract insights, and provide recommendations to stakeholders.

• Implement and optimize models for deployment into production environments.

• Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to junior data scientists and analytics teams.

• Develop standards, frameworks, and best practices to ensure scalable and sustainable data science solutions.

• Monitor emerging technologies and integrate cutting-edge practices into the Data & Analytics function.

Skills & Qualifications:

✅ Required Skills

• Proven success in delivering ML-powered solutions at scale in B2C environments.

• Expertise in the ML pipeline: dataset extraction (SQL), model development, prototyping, and deployment.

• Strong inferential analysis and problem-solving skills to identify recurring patterns and actionable insights.

• Ability to communicate ML and algorithm designs effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities.

✅ What Equips You for Success

• 7+ years of data science experience, with at least 3 years in developing and deploying ML/DL solutions.

• Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

• Proficiency in SQL, Python, Spark, and rapid prototyping.

• Experience with Azure Cloud (Databricks, ML, IoT), CI/CD, and MLOps.

• Skilled in developer tools such as Azure DevOps, PyCharm/VS Studio, Docker.

• Strong knowledge of probability, statistics, ML/DL algorithms, forecasting, and optimization.

• Experience in benchmarking, performance evaluation, and continuous model improvement.
