GEMS Education is seeking a Primary School Librarian responsible for managing the school library, promoting reading, and supporting students and staff in finding age-appropriate and topic-related books. The librarian will ensure an organized, welcoming, and resourceful library environment that fosters a love of reading.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist students in selecting books appropriate to their reading level and interest.

• Manage borrowing, returns, and record-keeping of library materials.

• Develop reading lists for various age levels.

• Teach students about books, library layout, and the Dewey Decimal system.

• Liaise with Heads of Department to select and order books and periodicals.

• Catalogue books using Dewey Decimal system and maintain library databases.

• Repair and withdraw old books; maintain audiovisual library resources.

• Supervise library support staff and volunteers.

• Maintain a well-organized, comfortable, and attractive library environment.

• Ensure compliance with GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.

Skills & Requirements:

• Committed, creative, and highly organized individual.

• Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with students and staff.

• Experience in library management, cataloguing, and educational support preferred.

• UK-enhanced DBS or equivalent police check required.
