GEMS Wellington International School, part of GEMS Education, is seeking a compassionate and qualified Lower School Student Counsellor to join their team immediately. The role focuses on supporting the social and emotional development of students, providing individual and group counselling, implementing wellbeing programs, and collaborating with teachers, parents, and external agencies to foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counselling to support students’ personal, social, and emotional development.

• Deliver crisis intervention for students facing urgent emotional challenges.

• Develop and implement programmes promoting emotional health, resilience, and positive behaviour.

• Organise workshops on conflict resolution, stress management, and wellbeing.

• Lead anti-bullying initiatives and create a safe school climate.

• Design and monitor behavioural intervention plans.

• Collaborate with teachers to identify and support students with emotional needs.

• Conduct training sessions for staff on social-emotional learning and student behaviour.

• Engage with parents through workshops and meetings on child development.

• Maintain confidential counselling records and evaluate programme effectiveness.

• Stay updated on best practices in student counselling and emotional wellbeing.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Psychology or Counselling preferred.

• Degree in Education, Psychology, or Counselling (required).

• Minimum 1 year of school-based experience or counselling experience in an educational setting.

• Strong knowledge of counselling techniques and emotional development practices.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to build trust with students and maintain confidentiality.

• Empathetic, approachable, and effective with diverse student populations.
