Job Description:
Abu Dhabi Biobank is seeking a Laboratory Manager – Eye Bank to lead the establishment and operations of ocular tissue processing and distribution services. This role ensures safe, high-quality, and compliant delivery of corneal tissue for transplantation, research, and education, in alignment with Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) standards and UAE Department of Health (DoH) regulations.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the setup and daily operations of the Eye Bank, including tissue processing, evaluation, preservation, and distribution.

Manage a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with HAYAT, transplant centers, and regulatory bodies.

Oversee quality control, documentation, and traceability of all tissue activities.

Drive strategic growth, business planning, and regional partnerships for Eye Bank services.

Ensure compliance with EBAA standards, DoH regulations, and ISO 20387.

Lead internal audits, CAPA processes, and accreditation efforts.

Recruit, train, and manage technical staff; establish competency programs aligned with EBAA.

Maintain robust records and generate reports on tissue utilization, quality indicators, and compliance metrics.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (required).

Master’s degree in healthcare management or biomedical sciences (preferred).

Minimum 5 years’ experience in an EBAA-accredited or internationally recognized Eye Bank or tissue establishment.

At least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.

Knowledge of ocular anatomy, tissue preservation, and transplantation protocols.

Familiarity with third-party tissue recovery models and national donation frameworks is a plus.

Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in LIS/LIMS, Microsoft Office, and data reporting tools.

Ability to work independently in a multicultural, fast-paced environment.
