Aldar Education is hiring a Head of Department for Grades 1 & 2 at Yas American Academy, located on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, for the academic year 2025/26. This full-time, on-site position offers an exciting opportunity for experienced educators to take on a significant leadership role within one of Abu Dhabi’s leading American curriculum schools. The school follows the Massachusetts Common Core Curriculum alongside Arabic, Islamic, and Social Studies, offering exceptional facilities and a supportive teaching environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a major phase of the school, contributing to overall strategic development.

• Drive academic excellence across curriculum, assessment, inclusion, and pastoral care.

• Inspire and manage staff using the school’s ethos “Everyone a Leader.”

• Shape and implement innovative pedagogical strategies.

• Monitor and evaluate curriculum effectiveness, teaching standards, and student achievement.

• Contribute to and lead professional development initiatives across the school.

• Manage recruitment and support staff development within the department.

• Take on additional whole-school responsibilities as directed by the Senior Leadership Team.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree and/or PGCE in Education (mandatory).

• At least 3 years of teaching experience with consistent performance exceeding expectations.

• Proven success in a Middle Leadership role with measurable school-wide impact.

• Experience in implementing strategies to improve standards and student achievement.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead diverse teams.

• High professional standards and a commitment to student well-being and achievement.

• Knowledge of international schooling standards and working with external agencies.

• Clean background check (enhanced DBS or police clearance required).
