Job Title: Governance Officer

Job Overview:

A leading oil trading firm is seeking an experienced Governance Officer to support the implementation and management of the company’s governance framework. Reporting to the Compliance Manager, this role provides an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced commodities trading environment.

Candidates must have experience in commodities trading or banking.

Key Responsibilities:

✅ Governance Framework Management

• Support in the maintenance, implementation, and review of governance frameworks.
• Ensure compliance with evolving regulations and industry standards.
• Review and enhance governance processes and internal controls to maintain effectiveness.

✅ Risk & Compliance Oversight

• Assist the risk and compliance teams in monitoring adherence to policies.
• Serve as the first point of contact for governance-related queries.
• Provide advice and support to management on governance-related matters.

✅ Training & Development

• Contribute to the development and review of training materials.
• Conduct awareness sessions on governance policies and regulatory changes.

✅ Regulatory & Industry Monitoring

• Stay updated on legislative developments and industry governance trends.
• Ensure company policies align with regulatory expectations and best practices.

✅ Board & Committee Support

• Assist in the preparation of agendas and meeting materials for the board and committees.
• Provide support for senior managers and governing bodies.

✅ Policy Implementation & Document Management

• Support the implementation of company policies and procedures.
• Maintain governance-related documents and ensure efficient record management.

Requirements:

✔ Education & Experience

• 4+ years of experience in governance, compliance, or risk management roles.
• Essential experience in commodities trading or banking.
• Strong understanding of corporate governance frameworks, regulatory expectations, and internal controls.

✔ Skills & Competencies

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Strong communication skills to interact confidently with senior stakeholders.
• Proficiency in governance tools, systems, and document management software.
• Fluency in English is required; Arabic is advantageous.
