Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring proper accounting systems are in place.

• Keep the school’s costs within the agreed budget limits and provide proactive financial advice to the UAE Head of Finance & Principal.

• Prepare monthly financial accounts, including accruals, prepayments, ECL, and FAR management, ensuring adherence to accounting principles.

• Produce and submit statutory accounting and tax returns in line with UAE legislation.

• Manage IFRS 16 leases according to accounting standards.

• Implement and maintain robust internal control systems.

• Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts to assist both the school and Nord Anglia Education in managing their finances.

• Ensure asset management processes are well-maintained and documented.

• Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors to manage statutory accounts and other returns.

• Collaborate with internal auditors to ensure efficient and effective financial operations, and implement any recommended improvements.

• Stay updated with the latest accounting and tax regulations in the UAE and internationally.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting or related field.

• 5-7 years of experience in an accounting role, with a focus on VAT and IFRS standards.

• Proficiency in accounting software, specifically MS Navision, as well as MS Excel and PowerPoint.

• Ability to work under tight deadlines with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Previous experience in an educational environment is desirable.

• Strong communication and negotiation skills for dealing with external stakeholders on commercial matters.

• Excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively with both finance and non-finance teams.

• High personal integrity and strong organisational abilities.

• Ability to work independently and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
