The International Rescue Committee (IRC) seeks an Emergency Environmental Health Coordinator to join its Global Surge Team. This role provides technical leadership in environmental health and WASH programming, delivering lifesaving interventions such as clean water, safe sanitation, and hygiene support in emergency contexts. The position involves short-term deployments of up to three months and requires rapid response to crises within 72 hours of notification.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct high-quality humanitarian needs assessments and provide prioritized program recommendations.

Design program strategies and responses, coordinating with internal teams and external partners.

Draft technical proposals and budgets for international donors; coordinate with IRC grants and finance teams.

Lead implementation of environmental health programs, including recruitment, training, workplan development, procurement, and budget management.

Prepare donor and management reports; ensure consistent monitoring and evaluation of program results.

Ensure compliance with IRC policies, guidelines, and quality standards.

Represent IRC with agencies, government authorities, donors, and partners to promote best practices.

Support media and communications activities as needed.

Foster an inclusive environment, valuing diversity and promoting team capacity building.

Provide comprehensive handover to successor upon deployment completion.
Required Qualifications:

Degree in engineering, hydrology, environmental health, or related field; Master’s preferred.

3–5 years’ experience in WASH/Environmental Health coordination.

Experience in emergency and/or start-up humanitarian environments.

Strong leadership, team management, and program management skills.

Excellent written and oral communication skills; fluency in English required, French or Arabic preferred.

Digital literacy: MS Word, Excel, email; knowledge of MS Access, Project, GIS preferred.

Ability to train and lead staff under stressful and rapidly changing conditions.
