Role Overview:
The Design Director will lead the design management function for Mace’s portfolio of high-value mixed-use projects. This role involves overseeing design delivery, managing client relationships, implementing design systems, mentoring teams, and driving business outcomes while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead design management across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with statutory, legal, and contractual requirements.

• Direct and uphold safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability, and compliance standards.

• Mentor and develop project teams, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

• Manage key client relationships and identify new business opportunities.

• Implement design management systems and processes for efficiency and excellence.

• Influence long-term project strategy and contribute to a sustainable business future.

• Drive innovation, best practices, and collaboration across internal networks and resources.

• Lead recruitment, talent development, and career progression within the design team.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Relevant degree qualification in architecture, design, or a related field.

• Extensive experience in high-end hospitality projects within mixed-use developments.

• Experience working in the UAE is essential for client approvals.

• Membership of RIBA, MICE, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS, CIAT, or equivalent.

• Proven track record in the delivery phase of large-scale construction projects and programmes.

• Strong leadership and management experience with large, diverse teams.

• Knowledge of building safety legislation, construction contracts, and sustainability considerations.

• Ability to manage senior stakeholder relationships effectively.
