Role Overview

As a Design Director at Gensler’s Dubai office, you will join the studio leadership team and drive the creative vision across client projects. You’ll play a key role in elevating design quality, mentoring teams, developing business, and creating emotionally resonant, sustainable, and future-ready environments. This is a high-impact leadership position for a design visionary with strong strategic and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead creative design efforts and strategies across diverse client projects.

• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop compelling conceptual and sustainable designs.

• Serve as the key design liaison between clients, project teams, and consultants.

• Provide creative leadership through all project phases—from concept to execution.

• Inspire and mentor design teams through critique, coaching, and professional growth.

• Strengthen Gensler’s design culture via internal reviews, knowledge sharing, and cross-studio engagement.

• Contribute to business development efforts, thought leadership, and market positioning.

• Champion Gensler’s climate and sustainability goals through project design and advocacy.

• Support community outreach, design education, and industry engagement efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field.

• Minimum of 15 years of professional experience, including commercial interior design leadership.

• Strong storytelling and presentation skills; ability to articulate and sell design concepts.

• Experience building and maintaining long-term client relationships.

• Passion for mentoring, collaboration, and empowering creative teams.

• Experience with all project phases, including construction documentation and contract administration.

• In-depth knowledge of sustainable design strategies and tools.

• At least one completed project with a sustainability certification (LEED, WELL, Fitwel, etc.) preferred.

• Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, and Grasshopper essential; BIM management and visualization skills a plus.

Design Technology Skills (Preferred)

• BIM collaboration tools (BIM360, Navisworks)

• Computational design (Grasshopper, Dynamo)

• Real-time rendering tools (V-Ray, Enscape, Twinmotion)

• Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office

• Building performance tools (Insight, Ladybug, Sefaira)

• Experience in Unreal Engine or Unity is a bonus
