Assistant Manager – Staging & Facilities – Drydocks World

Drydocks World is hiring an Assistant Manager – Staging & Facilities to lead and manage a team responsible for scaffolding, deck hand, staging, and rope access activities onboard vessels and in the yard. The role involves planning, organizing, and supervising projects to meet milestones, ensuring quality and safety standards, and coordinating work both inside and outside the yard. The ideal candidate will have extensive marine and construction industry experience, with proven leadership skills in managing large teams and complex operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and supervise daily staging, scaffolding, and rope access operations.

  • Review and finalize work specifications, sequences, manpower, and equipment requirements.

  • Develop and follow method statements, procedures, drawings, and specifications.

  • Coordinate work progress with supervisors and ensure commercial targets are achieved.

  • Create manpower loading plans and detailed completion programs.

  • Participate in accident investigations, root cause analysis, and safety improvement initiatives.

  • Review vessel repair plans to optimize yard equipment and resources.

  • Manage staff appraisals, training needs, and workforce development.

  • Lead department operations in the absence of the Senior Manager.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in scaffolding within the marine and construction industry.

  • At least 4 years’ experience managing rope access and deck hand activities in the maritime sector.

  • Minimum 10 years in a managerial role.

  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering or relevant field.

  • Competency certifications in scaffolding and hydro blasting.

  • Strong technical knowledge of scaffolding, rope access, hydro blasting, and deck hand operations.

  • Ability to read and interpret scaffolding drawings.

  • Proficient in MS Office applications.

  • Knowledge of ship repair and new build works.

  • Excellent leadership and workforce management skills.
