How to Write Work Experience in a Dubai Resume

The first thing a Dubai recruiter will notice in your resume is the work experience section. Your work experience section is the easiest way to tell the recruiter you have all the skills, expertise, and experience for the job. The work experience section in the Dubai resume should have the company name, job title, timeline when you start beginning when you did the job, your accomplishments, and responsibilities in bullet points. Follow the resume writing tips given on this blog to write an excellent and impactful work experience section in your CV for Dubai jobs.

How to Write Work Experience In Resume for Dubai Jobs

To write a work experience that impresses the recruiters and tell them you are the BEST candidate for the job, follow the points given below.

1. Mention Your Job Title, Company Name & Timeline

Begin writing your work experience section by providing a proper heading. Mention your job title, company name, and time from which you started working and till which you worked in the company.

Always include the complete names of all the companies you have worked for in the past. Include the location of your company. Don’t mention the complete address just mention the state or country. If you have work in Dubai or any other Middle Eastern country, say it.

The beginning and ending dates of each job should then be mentioned. The beginning date is the day you began working, and the ending date is the day you left the company. Make use of the month-year structure.

For example,

Team Leader – Sales Department
XYZ Corporation, Dubai, UAE
January 2020 – June 2023

  • Supervised a team of 15 sales representatives, achieving a 25% increase in quarterly revenue.
  • Conducted training sessions to improve team performance, resulting in a 30% boost in lead conversion rates.
  • Managed client relationships in the UAE market, securing contracts worth AED 1.5 million

2. Write Work Experience in Reverse Chronological Order

As per the Dubai resume format, your work experience should be in reverse chronological order. As per the reverse chronological order mention your current or the last company you work at the top, then the company before that, and so on.  Keep in mind to mention the proper timeline in your resume if you have any career gaps justify it.

3. Use Bullet Points

Don’t mention your work experience in a paragraph, make it more readable by using bullet points. Include three to five bullet points for each job. When creating bullet points for prior positions on your resume, use the past tense; for your most recent work experience item, use the present tense.

Many job seekers mention their duties and responsibilities making it dull. Rather you should use this space to talk about your achievements and accomplishments.

For example,

Instead of writing “I daily make sales calls and talk about the mobile app.”

You can write your work details like this:

  • Generated 30+ qualified leads weekly by making strategic sales calls to prospective clients.
  • Educated potential customers about the mobile app’s features, leading to a 20% increase in sign-ups.
  • Built and maintained a pipeline of clients, contributing to a 15% growth in monthly sales revenue.

Why This Works

  • Focus on Achievements: It highlights what you accomplished, not just your duties.
  • Quantify Results: Numbers (e.g., 30+ leads, 20% increase) add credibility and show your good work.
  • Clear and Concise: Bullet points make it easy for recruiters to scan and understand your contributions.

TIP: You can also list your promotions, awards received, and certificates you got in your company. This will add more value to your Dubai resume.

4. Add Action Verbs in Your Work Experience

Another way to make your work experience section better in the Dubai resume is by using action verbs. Rather, start your bullet points with action verbs that creatively highlight your accomplishment.

Instead of writing “Responsible for team management,” write “Led a team of 10 to achieve a 20% increase in sales.” Words like “developed,” “achieved,” “improved,” and “executed”. Using action verbs not only grabs attention but also shows confidence in your skills and experience, making your Dubai resume more impactful.

Some of the action verbs you can use in your Dubai resume to write an effective work experience section are:

  • Implemented
  • Managed
  • Coordinated
  • Accomplished
  • Led
  • Improved
  • Developed
  • Resolved
  • Oversaw
  • Analyzed

For example,

Without Action Verbs With Action Verbs:
  • Responsible for managing a team of 8 people.
  • In charge of preparing weekly sales reports.
  • Handled customer complaints and resolved issues.
  • Led a team of 8 sales executives, driving a 25% increase in quarterly revenue.
  • Prepared and analyzed weekly sales reports, identifying trends to optimize performance.
  • Resolved customer complaints promptly, achieving a 95% customer satisfaction rate.

Using action verbs like “led,” “prepared,” “analyzed,” and “resolved” makes your accomplishments sound impactful.

5. Quantify Your Achievements

Quantifying your achievements means talking about your work experience, accomplishments, and tasks in numbers. For example,

launched a marketing campaign in a new market, resulting in a 30% increase in yearly sales.

By adding numbers to your achievements you tell the recruiter you are someone who brings results and benefits to the company.

To mention your accomplishment in numbers you can cover points like:

  • Customers obtained
  • Savings done
  • Customer satisfaction rate
  • Income you generated for the company
  • Team members, you led or managed
  • Number of projects you did
  • Amount of traffic you brought
  • Clients attended to
  • Costs that you redacted
  • Sales figures increased
  • Decrease in customer complaints
  • Meeting deadlines or finishing projects on schedule
  • Rates of conversion
  • Enhancements to quality control

6. Add the Right amount of Work Experience

According to the Dubai CV format, your page should not be more than 2 pages long. Even if you have 15 years or 30 years of work experience you have to mention within 2 pages of Dubai resumes only.

Work experience is the section in a resume that takes up most of the space. Now, the question comes how to write work experience in short?

If you have done 20 years of job, does it mean you have to write all the work experience? No.

The amount of work experience you need to mention in your Dubai resume depends on your career stage.

Level  Details How Much Work Experience to Write
Fresher If you are fresher you won’t have any jobs to mention in your work expectation section. So, if you don’t have any work experience you can remove the work experience section from your resume and rather focus on volunteer work and extracurricular activities. However, if you have done any internship you can mention it in your work experience section

by mentioning internships in brackets.

If you have any work experience mention otherwise skip.
Entry Level If you are someone who is doing entry-level jobs, or junior executive jobs you can mention all of your work experience.  You can mention all your work experience.
Mid-Level At this level, you should only mention relevant work experiences.  Mention relevant work experience, not the internships you did as a beginner.
Senior-Level You simply need to list up to 15 years of relevant experience. Remove work experience that is not relatable to the job you are applying for.  Only 15 years of work experience, with important ones in detail and others in short. Don’t add irrelevant work experience.

Note: Your resume for Dubai jobs should be a maximum of 2 pages. More than 2-page resumes don’t work in Dubai. So summarize all the required sections within 2 pages only.

7. Customize Your Work Experience According to the Job Description

If you want your Dubai resume to get shortlisted fast and get a quick response from the recruiter, you have to customize your work experience as per the job ad.

Simply, read the job description. Analyze what the recruiter is asking and looking for. Check out the skills a recruiter is demanding.

Now, go to your CV and add similar skills to your work experience. You can modify a few sentences in your work history according to the tasks and duties mentioned in the job description. However, keep in mind that you don’t have to copy sentences from the job description just pick out relevant keywords and add them to your CV.

Take a look at the example below to understand how to tailor your Dubai resume to a job description.

For example,

Skill mentioned in the job description: Project management using Agile methodologies

Your resume original line: Managed projects and ensured timely delivery

Modified line: Managed multiple projects using Agile methodologies, ensuring on-time delivery with a 15% increase in efficiency

Another example,

Skill mentioned in the job description: Proficiency in data analysis tools like Excel or Power BI

Your Resume Original Line: Experienced in analyzing sales data

Modified Line: Analyzed sales data using advanced Excel functions and Power BI dashboards, identifying key insights that improved revenue by 10%
