Step 1: Match the Dubai Real Estate Eligibility Criteria

  • Age: You must be at least 21 years old to obtain a real estate licence in Dubai.
  • Education: While a real estate agent in Dubai is not required to have any formal education, having certain degrees in business or similar subjects may provide a competitive advantage.
  • Residency: You must be a UAE or GCC citizen, or have a valid residency visa. If you are a foreigner, there are several options available to you for obtaining a residency permit in Dubai. You can obtain a work visa via your company, or your spouse can sponsor a residency visa if they work in Dubai.

Step 2: Apply for DREI Certification Training

Once your residency visa is approved, you can register for training at the Dubai Real Estate Institute (DREI). Certified Training for Real Estate Brokers is a four-day course designed to provide the necessary insight into the city’s real estate business. RERA requires all prospective agents to complete rigorous training to ensure they understand the market’s legal and ethical requirements before applying for a real estate license.

The Certified Training for Real Estate Brokers course costs around AED 3,000 This course has been approved by the Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA), which is the regulatory arm of the Dubai Land Department. This course covers numerous units, including

Step 3: Attend the RERA Exam

After four days of training, you must take a written RERA registration exam. The exam fee is AED 3200 for bachelor’s degree holders and AED 6300 for non-degree holders. The exam is simple if you have thoroughly studied the topics covered in the certification course.

The exam primarily assesses your understanding of real estate legislation, market procedures, and ethical standards. Passing the exam and obtaining a broker’s card requires a minimum score of 70%.

Step 4: Get a Dubai Realtor License

How To Renew Your Realtor’s License in Dubai

To renew your realtor’s licence, you must retake the RERA agent registration exam and achieve a minimum score of 85%. Once you’ve passed your exam, you can finish the renewal process. 

If you fail to renew your realtor’s license by the deadline, your license may be revoked, and you will be required to do the training course again. The renewal fee for your realtor license is AED 510.
