Miral Experiences is seeking an Animal Health and Welfare Director to lead its comprehensive animal health and welfare program, including zoo animals (mammals, fish, reptiles, birds, invertebrates) and associated Rescue & Rehabilitation programs. This role ensures high standards of animal welfare, advances the science of animal health, and manages a high-performing team within the Strategic Operations Management Office.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the health and welfare of all collection animals, including diagnosis, treatment, preventative medicine, and nutrition.

Support medical care of rescued animals and the animal rescue program.

Lead the Animal Health Department annual budget planning and management.

Educate and consult zoological colleagues and leadership on health, welfare, and husbandry practices.

Conduct animal health research and prepare findings for presentations and publications.

Develop and implement short- and long-term departmental plans and goals.

Maintain safety protocols for colleagues and animals.

Participate in field rescues, health assessments, and research with various species.

Formulate and administer departmental policies; monitor key results and financial performance.

Perform other duties assigned by the leadership team.
Key Requirements & Skills:

Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine; Master’s or postgraduate qualifications preferred.

Eligible to obtain a UAE veterinary license.

10+ years of experience in a zoo, aquarium, or oceanarium setting (including post-doctoral or practical experience).

10+ years of leadership experience, including zoological budget oversight.

Strong leadership, communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.

Knowledge of professional zoo/aquarium communities, animal behavior, and conservation.

Advanced computer skills (MS Office).

Board eligibility or membership in a recognized Veterinary statutory/professional body is a plus.
