The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an Education Coordinator for its Global Surge Team. This full-time, on-site role involves providing technical support, program leadership, and strategic guidance to education programs in emergency and non-emergency contexts. The Coordinator will manage project implementation, support capacity building, coordinate with partners and authorities, and ensure high-quality educational outcomes for children and youth, especially in displaced or crisis-affected communities.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical education support and program leadership via short-term deployments.

Support strategy development, including mapping education funding opportunities, partners, and systems.

Represent IRC in inter-agency forums and coordination mechanisms.

Lead planning, quality implementation, and monitoring of education programs, including small-scale piloting of relevant materials.

Manage, supervise, and evaluate education project staff and consultants.

Collaborate with other IRC sectors (Economic Recovery, Child Protection, WPE) for program integration.

Manage program budgets and track expenditures.

Coordinate with local/regional authorities, NGOs, private sector actors, and international partners, including UN agencies.

Prepare reports on project implementation for internal and external stakeholders.

Contribute to education advocacy, policy, and communications initiatives.

Promote a safe, ethical, and inclusive working environment, modeling IRC values.
Qualifications & Skills:

Master’s degree in Education, International Development, or related field preferred.

Minimum 5 years’ experience managing education projects for children and youth, ideally in displaced or crisis-affected contexts.

Experience with international donor-funded programs and humanitarian work preferred.

Strong program planning, fiscal management, organizational, and communication skills.

Experience supervising, training, and building capacity of local teams and partners.

Fluency in English; working knowledge of French or Spanish is a plus.

Strong report and proposal writing skills.

Experience in coordination and representation at national or international levels.
-
Prior work experience in West Africa, Central Africa, or Latin America desired.
