Job Title: Senior / Principal Process Engineer 

Job Description:

We are recruiting on behalf of our UAE-based client, a well-established organization in the hard commodities and petrochemical sector, for the position of Senior / Principal Process Engineer. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a world-class, grass-roots petrochemical and refining project in the UAE, spanning early engineering design, FEED, and EPC phases.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership & Participation

• Represent the client throughout all project stages—from early design to EPC.

• Develop project scope of work, Basis of Design, and process-related documentation.

• Prepare process inputs and compile ITB packages during pre-FEED and FEED.

Technology & Licensing

• Assist in evaluating technology providers and licensors.

• Review Preliminary & Basic Design Packages (PDPs/BDPs), feasibility studies, and related reports.

Coordination & Communication

• Collaborate with international engineering contractors, licensors, vendors, and project managers.

• Ensure alignment of process objectives with project goals through effective cross-functional teamwork.

Documentation & Design Review

• Review and validate BFDs/PFDs, process philosophies, specifications, and layouts.

• Provide process design inputs for petrochemical plant configurations and equipment recommendations.

Process Design & Simulation

• Conduct simulations using Aspen PIMS, Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or equivalent tools.

• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Risk & Quality Management

• Participate in risk assessments, developing strategies to mitigate process-related challenges.

• Support quality assurance across engineering deliverables.

Technical Support & Problem-Solving

• Resolve complex process engineering challenges.

• Prepare and present reports and technical recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Collaboration & Flexibility

• Engage in international project collaboration, with flexibility to travel as required.

• Apply project management skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

Candidate Profile:

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Process / Chemical (Petrochemistry) Engineering.

Experience

• Minimum 10+ years of downstream process engineering experience in petrochemical/refining projects (conceptual to EPC).

• Strong background in licensor PDPs, ISBL/OSBL design, and process optimization.

Technical Competence

• Proficiency in Aspen PIMS, Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or equivalent process simulation software.

• Strong understanding of petrochemical & refining technologies, turbocharged systems, and industrial engineering principles.

Other Skills

• Familiarity with UAE and international safety, environmental, and quality regulations.

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

• Strong problem-solving and project management skills.

• Willingness to travel internationally and work across time zones.

• Fluent in English (Arabic is an advantage).
