Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) is seeking a Research Assistant to join the Center for Applied and Translational Genomics (CATG), a cutting-edge multi-omics research facility. The role involves supporting laboratory and computational research projects, managing lab operations, and contributing to scientific advancement in genomics and molecular biology.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct and design experiments according to research protocols under the guidance of the Principal Investigator (PI).

• Implement research projects involving wet lab and computational procedures.

• Collect, analyze, and store experimental and clinical data.

• Disseminate research findings through publications, posters, and presentations at scientific meetings.

• Assist in grant writing and funding applications.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within MBRU and external partners.

• Manage procurement of laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables.

• Maintain lab inventory, equipment, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

• Perform regular equipment inspections and coordinate maintenance.

• Set personal development goals and stay updated with latest scientific advancements through training and networking.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a medical or life sciences field is required; Master’s degree preferred.

• Previous experience in genomics or molecular biology laboratories highly desirable.

• Proficient in DNA/RNA extraction and purification, library preparation for genome sequencing (short-read and/or long-read).

• Skilled in quality control techniques such as agarose gel electrophoresis, PCR, and fragment length analysis.

• Experience with qPCR for gene expression quantification and single-cell library preparation (e.g., 10x Genomics).

• Familiarity with handling multiple tissue types for genomic sequencing, Western blotting, and cell culture techniques.
