Job Summary:

USF St. Petersburg is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor of Instruction to teach in the areas of First Year Composition and Creative Writing for the 2025–2026 academic year. This is a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure track position with the possibility of renewal up to three years.

Responsibilities:

• Teach a 4/4 course load per academic year

• Primary teaching responsibilities include First-Year Composition and Creative Writing

• Maintain student engagement through interactive instruction and academic support

• Participate in departmental and university activities as needed

Course Details:

• Class size: Maximum 19 students per course

• Courses delivered on-site with potential hybrid engagement

Minimum Qualifications:

• MFA or Ph.D. in Creative Writing from an accredited institution (to be completed by August 7, 2025)

• Demonstrated experience in teaching Composition and Creative Writing

• Meets university criteria for the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor of Instruction

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Creative Writing

• Post-secondary teaching experience in both Composition and Creative Writing
