About the Role
We are seeking a Director – External Audit to join our growing Audit & Assurance team in Abu Dhabi. This is a senior leadership position, responsible for driving strategic growth, managing high-profile audit portfolios, and fostering strong client relationships—particularly within the UAE public sector.
Key Responsibilities

Drive business growth alongside the leadership team, contributing to strategic initiatives.

Develop and manage a portfolio of high-profile clients, with a focus on public sector entities.

Work toward attaining Responsible Individual (RI) status to sign off audit reports.

Oversee and mentor a team of audit Managers and Associates.

Promote Grant Thornton’s brand and expand our market presence across the UAE.

Lead audit planning, review, and execution for complex engagements, including large group audits.

Negotiate and agree on audit fees per client engagement.

Ensure full compliance with IFRS, internal controls standards, and applicable regulations.

Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge and contribute to thought leadership.

Inspire, coach, and develop team members to reach their full potential.
Requirements
-
11+ years of External Audit experience in a top international accountancy firm.

Professional qualifications: ACA, ACCA, CPA (or equivalent).

Proven track record in leading audits for large and complex entities.

Strong expertise in IFRS, consolidation, and audit regulations.

Extensive public sector audit experience in the UAE market is a must.

Passion for business development, client relationship management, and strategic planning.

Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.

Fluent in English (Arabic is a plus).
