Salama Insurance is seeking a strategic and technically accomplished leader to head its Casualty underwriting portfolio. This executive role is focused on driving profitable growth, leading a team of underwriters, and developing innovative casualty insurance solutions across regional and international markets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the casualty underwriting strategy in line with overall business goals and risk appetite

• Portfolio Management: Oversee complex and high-value risk underwriting; ensure compliance with pricing and regulatory guidelines

• Team Management: Lead and develop a high-performing casualty underwriting team; foster a culture of technical excellence and accountability

• Technical Expertise: Serve as the in-house expert across casualty lines—GL, EL, PI, D&O, and others

• Reinsurance Structuring: Manage treaty and facultative reinsurance programs (quota share, XoL, layered) to optimize capital and underwriting margin

• Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate relationships with brokers, clients, reinsurers; represent Salama in industry forums

• Pricing & Profitability: Work closely with actuaries to implement data-driven pricing models; monitor loss ratios and rate adequacy

• Product Innovation: Lead development and enhancement of casualty products in response to emerging risks and market demands

• Governance & Compliance: Ensure all activities meet internal controls, guidelines, and regulatory standards

• Reporting: Provide actionable reporting and insights on portfolio performance, risk trends, and market conditions to senior leadership

Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or Law

• Preferred: Master’s degree or professional certifications (ACII, CPCU)

Experience:

• 10+ years in casualty underwriting with proven track record of profitable portfolio management

• Experience across international markets, particularly MENA and Africa

• Demonstrated success in team leadership and cross-functional collaboration

Skills:

• Strong leadership, negotiation, and strategic thinking abilities

• Advanced understanding of casualty insurance products and regulatory frameworks

• Expertise in performance analytics, risk controls, and digital underwriting tools

• Fluent in stakeholder communication across internal and external channels
