About the Role:

McDermott is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer with deep expertise in rotating and packaged mechanical equipment to support high-impact oil and gas projects. This senior-level position involves leading mechanical design from concept through detailed execution, managing cross-functional teams, and solving complex engineering challenges in a dynamic global environment.

🔧 Key Responsibilities:

🛠 Engineering Design & Execution

• Lead the mechanical design for rotating and packaged equipment in conceptual, FEED, and detailed engineering phases

• Prepare and approve technical specifications, datasheets, noise reports, lubrication schedules, and vendor requisitions

• Deliver clear, precise design calculations and ensure alignment with project specs and international codes

📈 Project Leadership & Oversight

• Act as the Mechanical Discipline Lead, managing engineering scope, schedule, and resource planning

• Direct teams of engineers and designers, ensuring productivity and technical quality

• Participate in project planning, 3D model reviews, design audits, and HAZOP sessions

🤝 Coordination & Communication

• Interface with internal teams, vendors, certifying agencies, and clients to align on technical and procedural matters

• Provide procurement support: evaluating bids, resolving technical queries, and expediting vendor documentation

• Maintain consistent communication on scope changes, project risks, and performance metrics

📋 Documentation & Quality Assurance

• Oversee mechanical deliverables, including handling philosophies, installation instructions, and spares/tooling documentation

• Support factory acceptance tests, equipment inspections, and construction-related technical queries

• Contribute to McDermott’s Lessons Learned, procedures, and engineering standards development

🎓 Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

• 15–20 years of experience in oil and gas engineering (preferably EPC), with a focus on rotating equipment

• Deep understanding of global design standards and mechanical systems

• Strong leadership, coordination, and team mentoring skills

• Fluent in English; professional registration preferred
