Technical Manager

The Technical Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring that all maintenance activities are accurately tracked and up-to-date. The role includes managing vessel maintenance, coordinating repair functions, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supervising dry dock activities. This position also involves monitoring budgets, guiding staff, and ensuring that vessels meet operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the successful implementation of CMMS and ensure data accuracy.

  • Monitor planned maintenance, vessel spares requisitions, and consumption.

  • Coordinate repair and maintenance functions for the fleet to minimize loss and reduce repair costs.

  • Ensure vessels comply with class society requirements and maintain valid insurance.

  • Conduct regular fleet visits (onshore & offshore) and supervise dry dock activities.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory of vessel spare parts and prepare repair quotations.

  • Ensure the vessels’ availability and seaworthiness for trading worldwide.

  • Monitor vessel fuel management processes.

  • Lead workforce planning, training, and performance monitoring for the shore maintenance team.

  • Handle technical interviews for new hires, ensuring their qualifications are current and relevant.

  • Coordinate with external suppliers, shipyards, and class societies for repairs and inspections.

  • Manage budget preparation, monitor expenditures, and ensure that projects remain within budget.

  • Drive HSEQ improvements, and support the implementation of ISM systems on board.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Education: Marine School Diploma or Technical College Certificate (or equivalent).

  • Certifications: PMP, Lean, or Six Sigma training is an advantage.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 25 years of technical experience, with at least 10 years in the rank of Chief Engineer onboard ships.

    • At least 10 years of relevant experience in the marine/offshore industry, including shore-based technical roles.

    • Minimum 5 years of managerial responsibilities, with internal auditing experience.

  • Skills:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Microsoft Project.

    • In-depth knowledge of marine and offshore legislation, inspection standards, and class rules requirements.

    • Strong commercial acumen, leadership skills, and customer focus.

    • Ability to manage teams operating in remote locations and make decisions with resilience and energy.
