Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Lead / Principal Process Engineer to oversee process design and execution for a world-class petrochemical and refining project in the UAE. This role requires expertise in process engineering, licensor evaluation, risk management, and project execution from early engineering design to EPC. The ideal candidate will collaborate with international teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, optimizing plant configurations, and leading process innovations.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership & Execution:

• Represent the client in a large-scale petrochemical and refining project from engineering design through FEED and EPC.

• Develop scope of work, Basis of Design, and ITB packages for pre-FEED and FEED phases.

• Evaluate bidding proposals and assist in selecting engineering contractors.

Process Design & Optimization:

• Provide process inputs for large-scale petrochemical plant design, including process selection and safety/environmental compliance.

• Utilize Aspen PIMS, Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar software for process simulations and calculations.

• Optimize plant configurations and equipment/material specifications.

Technology & Licensing:

• Assess and pre-qualify technology providers and process licensors.

• Review and analyze Preliminary Design Packages (PDPs), Basic Design Packages, and study reports.

Risk Management & Compliance:

• Conduct risk assessments, ensuring compliance with UAE regulations, safety, and environmental standards.

• Lead process safety management and mitigation strategies.

Stakeholder Coordination & Documentation:

• Communicate effectively with engineering contractors, vendors, and internal teams.

• Review and approve process-related documentation (BFDs, PFDs, process philosophies, specifications, and layout plans).

• Prepare and present technical reports and recommendations to senior management.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

• Master’s degree in Process or Chemical Engineering (Petrochemistry).

• 15+ years of experience in downstream process engineering, preferably in international petrochemical/refining projects.

Technical Expertise:

• Strong understanding of process engineering, licensor PDP, and ISBL/OSBL facility design.

• Proficiency in Aspen PIMS, Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar process simulation software.

• In-depth knowledge of petrochemical and refining technologies.

Regulatory & Compliance:

• Familiarity with international standards and UAE regulatory requirements for safety, environmental compliance, and quality.

Leadership & Communication:

• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and work across multiple time zones.

• Strong decision-making, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

• Fluency in English is required; Arabic is a plus.
