Egis, on behalf of Waagner Biro Bridge Services, is hiring a Terrestrial Ecologist to support a major marine infrastructure project in Dubai. This on-site, full-time role involves conducting detailed ecological assessments in coastal and nearby terrestrial environments to ensure sustainable practices and environmental compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have extensive fieldwork experience, particularly in arid and coastal ecosystems of the UAE, and a strong background in environmental science or terrestrial ecology. You’ll be key in identifying species of concern, developing mitigation strategies, and liaising with authorities to ensure biodiversity and habitat preservation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct ecological and habitat surveys in terrestrial areas adjacent to marine construction sites.

• Identify and document species of conservation concern in flora and fauna.

• Prepare Ecological Impact Assessments (EIA) and develop mitigation strategies in line with UAE regulations.

• Provide expert advice on biodiversity conservation, habitat restoration, and species management.

• Monitor ecological impacts throughout all project phases to ensure regulatory compliance.

• Collaborate with environmental consultants, authorities, and project teams to integrate ecological goals.

• Support the environmental permit application process and produce relevant documentation.

• Participate in stakeholder engagement activities as required.

Skills & Requirements:

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience, or

• Master’s degree with 7+ years, or

• PhD with 3+ years experience in Wildlife Ecology, Zoology, Botany, Terrestrial Ecology, or related fields.

Experience & Skills:

• Minimum 3 years of UAE-based professional experience in terrestrial ecology.

• Extensive fieldwork in arid and coastal ecosystems.

• Experience conducting EIAs and managing ecological survey data.

• Knowledge of native and invasive terrestrial species in the UAE.

• Familiarity with environmental regulatory frameworks in the region.

• Professional membership in ecological or environmental bodies is an advantage.
