This unit plays a vital role in agricultural biotechnology, contributing to food security and sustainable cultivation practices in the UAE and beyond.

Job Overview:
The Department is seeking a Research Assistant to support its tissue culture and micropropagation projects. The role involves carrying out plant propagation methodologies, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and safety in the lab environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute plant tissue culture and micropropagation methodologies for large-scale clone production.

  • Support cultivation methods to ensure efficient, high-throughput propagation.

  • Prepare and maintain glassware, culture media, and laboratory supplies.

  • Safely operate laboratory equipment, including autoclaves, incubators, centrifuges, laminar flow hoods, and analytical balances.

  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and compliance with safety standards.

  • Assist with archiving laboratory documents, SOPs, electronic records, and inventory management.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor.


Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Qualification:

  • High school diploma.

Maximum Qualification:

  • Diploma in Plant Science or a related field.

Experience (Preferred):

  • 1–2 years of experience in plant tissue culture, nursery production, or plant propagation.

  • Experience working in a sterile laboratory setting.

  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment setup, maintenance, and modification for experimental use.

  • Ability to optimize plant production techniques and maintain lab safety standards.


Expected Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and precision.

  • Excellent listening skills and ability to follow protocols.

  • Proficiency in sterile techniques and tissue culture methods.

  • Experience with commercial nursery clone production is an advantage.

  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work with delicate tools for extended periods.

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
