Order Taker, In Room Dining – Mandarin Oriental

Mandarin Oriental is seeking a dedicated and service-oriented Order Taker, In Room Dining to join its luxury hospitality team in Dubai. The role involves ensuring smooth communication between guests, kitchen staff, and service colleagues to deliver flawless and personalized dining experiences. The ideal candidate will embody Mandarin Oriental’s Legendary Quality Experiences (LQEs) and deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain clear communication with kitchen staff for accurate and timely service.

  • Provide guests with preparation and delivery timeframes while addressing inquiries, including restaurant reservations.

  • Handle guest orders with attention to detail, considering preferences and allergies.

  • Coordinate with the IRD Manager to deliver VIP amenities and liaise with the Front Office team.

  • Support IRD colleagues with setting up, serving, and clearing In Room Dining tables as required.

  • Prepare daily mise-en-place and maintain proper stock of office stationery.

  • Monitor order deliveries and collection of trolleys to ensure efficiency.

  • Operate POS systems for billing and cashiering tasks according to hotel standards.

  • Assist with other outlets or tasks as assigned by the IRD Manager.

  • Maintain accurate guest databases and track preferences for personalized service.

  • Handle guest complaints effectively and escalate when needed.

  • Engage warmly with guests, provide suitable food & beverage recommendations, and create memorable “WOW” moments.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills with a pleasant, articulate telephone manner.

  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.

  • Knowledge of In Room Dining procedures and POS systems preferred.

  • Basic computer proficiency, including MS Office.

  • Interest and knowledge in food & beverages, with the ability to make professional suggestions.

  • Commitment to teamwork and willingness to assist colleagues across operations.

  • Flexibility to work long hours with focus on operational excellence.

  • Prior hospitality or F&B experience preferred.
