GEMS American Academy, Abu Dhabi is seeking a K-12 Director of Inclusion to join their team starting August 2025. This leadership role involves overseeing inclusive practices for students with Additional Learning Needs, English Language Learners, and Gifted and Talented students. The ideal candidate will have a background in Special/Inclusive Education and a passion for fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Student Support Team (SST) and ensure alignment with ADEK policies

• Oversee communication around student needs through meetings and clear action plans

• Coordinate the review and referral procedures to ensure ongoing support for students

• Manage resources, staff, and development initiatives within the Inclusion Department

• Coordinate with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure student progress

• Lead self-evaluations and compliance with the ADEK Inspection Framework

• Oversee the identification and programming for Gifted and Talented students (GT) and English Language Learners (ELL)

• Provide leadership in ensuring the inclusion of all students in the academic curriculum and extracurricular activities

Requirements:

• BEd or Bachelor’s degree with PGCE/PGDE or equivalent in Inclusive/Special Needs Education (Master’s preferred)

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Special/Inclusive Education, with leadership experience preferred

• Proven experience in teaching and leading at the Secondary/High School level

• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents

• Experience with IB or American Curriculum Schools is a plus

• Excellent interpersonal skills and a track record of outstanding teaching and learning
