As an Underwriter – Space Economy, you’ll play a key role in defining insurance products for companies operating within space technology, satellite systems, launch services, and related industries. This position blends traditional underwriting expertise with innovation, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving to deliver cutting-edge risk solutions.

You’ll be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team helping to make innovation resilient by insuring the technologies shaping tomorrow’s world.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwrite and price complex commercial risks across the Space Economy, including launch, in-orbit, and downstream technologies.

• Analyze, assess, and negotiate insurance terms in alignment with company strategy and profitability targets.

• Develop relationships with brokers, clients, and policyholders to expand distribution channels and drive growth.

• Collaborate with actuaries to create and refine rating models that accurately represent emerging technology risks.

• Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities for new insurance products.

• Draft and negotiate policy wording, endorsements, and coverage terms.

• Collaborate with internal teams including actuarial, claims, reinsurance, and product development to ensure balanced risk-taking.

• Contribute to thought leadership by attending conferences, publishing insights, and representing Relm at industry events.

• Continuously improve underwriting processes through data-driven and technology-enabled methods.

• Ensure full compliance with all regulatory and internal policy requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of experience underwriting commercial insurance within technology, aerospace, or emerging sectors.

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Risk Management, or related field (ACII/CPCU certifications highly preferred).

• Strong background in underwriting, product development, and collaboration with actuarial teams.

• Experience in Space Economy insurance (satellite or launch risk) is a major advantage.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills.

• Proven ability to build strong client and broker relationships.

• Entrepreneurial mindset with passion for innovation and emerging technologies.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Mac OS is a plus.

• Willingness to travel and work across global markets as needed.
