Supervisor – Underwriting (Marine Hull)

A Confidential company is seeking a Supervisor – Underwriting (Marine Hull) to manage risk assessments for new and renewal business to ensure profitability. The role involves reviewing and processing Marine Hull insurance policies, adhering to underwriting guidelines, and managing the relationship with clients and brokers. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with company policies and maintain a high standard of documentation, timely communication, and coordination with internal departments.
Responsibilities:

  • Review and perform risk assessments for new and renewal business as per company guidelines.

  • Prepare new and renewal quotations in line with corporate guidelines and underwriting authority limits.

  • Ensure renewal notices are sent and follow up with clients and brokers.

  • Assist senior officers in assessing and rating the underwriting process.

  • Coordinate with brokers to gather risk-related information.

  • Ensure timely, accurate documentation, including quotes, binders, policies, endorsements, and invoices.

  • Provide support to the Finance Department in resolving payment queries or discrepancies.

  • Handle client, broker, and BDM queries related to Marine Hull insurance.

  • Monitor the renewal process and communicate with clients.

  • Prepare and review policy documents and handle the issuance of quotations and binders.

  • Ensure proper documentation and communication with clients, brokers, and reinsurers.

  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure smooth policy servicing and system bookings.

  • Review reports and perform various underwriting and documentation tasks as needed.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills for managing risk assessments and policy issuance.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, brokers, and internal departments.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple tasks and priorities.

  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and administrative capabilities.

  • Knowledge of Marine Hull underwriting and reinsurance processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Experience: 3-5 years in a relevant underwriting or insurance role, preferably in Marine Hull insurance.

  • Language Skills: Full Professional Proficiency in English.
