CooperSurgical, a leading fertility and women’s healthcare company, is seeking a Staff Scientist, Genomics to join their innovative Life Sciences team. This role will focus on improving and extending CooperSurgical’s genetic testing product offerings, including preimplantation genetic testing for segmental rearrangements (PGT-SR), monogenic diseases (PGT-M), and chromosomal aneuploidy (PGT-A) testing. The Staff Scientist will perform hands-on research, analyze genetic testing data, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive scientific advancements in genomic solutions.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform hands-on lab experiments to evaluate and improve genetic testing assays (PGT-A, PGT-M, PGT-SR).

Analyze and interpret genetic testing data, ensuring quality and identifying optimization trends.

Drive successful verification and validation testing for genetic product line extensions or improvements.

Implement genetic product line extensions at clinical testing facilities and contribute to the development of SOPs and training.

Manage R&D workstreams and support commercial and operational functions.

Mentor and provide technical direction to junior scientists and team members.

Communicate progress updates to stakeholders and external parties, including vendors and customers.
Qualifications:

Strong experience in genomics and genetic testing, with a focus on preimplantation genetic testing (PGT-A, PGT-M, PGT-SR).

Hands-on experience with experimental design, execution, and data analysis in a wet lab setting.

Proficiency in troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of genetic testing performance.

Ability to define strategies for verification and validation testing.

Experience with technology transfer and the implementation of product line extensions.

Project management skills and ability to lead R&D workstreams.

Excellent communication skills for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to mentor junior scientists and provide technical leadership.
Travel:

This is an on-site role, with some domestic/regional travel required (<5%).
Work Environment:

The position involves both office and laboratory work, including a manufacturing environment.

Occasional work with bloodborne pathogens or hazardous materials.

Prolonged sitting in front of a computer may be required.

Flexibility in work schedule is expected, including potential weekend or holiday work.
