Job Title: Ship Repair Estimator 

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Ship Repair Estimator to join our team, focusing on preparing detailed estimates for ship repair projects. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in marine engineering and shipboard systems to the table, ensuring accurate and comprehensive project proposals that meet both client and technical requirements.

As a Ship Repair Estimator, you will play a vital role in analyzing bid requests, interpreting engineering drawings, and collaborating with project teams to ensure cost-effective and efficient project planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed project estimates covering labor, materials, and subcontractor costs for ship repair works.

  • Analyze bid requests and generate itemized task lists based on technical documentation and client specifications.

  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, generating Bills of Quantities (BOQs) to accurately estimate project scope.

  • Draft and submit comprehensive proposals, submittals, and bid summaries to clients and stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with project teams to communicate special project requirements and coordinate between departments.

  • Monitor and manage project costs, ensuring alignment with budgets and schedules, and addressing any discrepancies.

  • Lead negotiations and technical discussions with both domestic and international clients.

  • Work across diverse environments including offices, shipyards, and onboard vessels, adhering to stringent safety protocols.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 3–6 years of experience in estimating ship repair or marine engineering projects.

  • Strong understanding of shipboard machinery and systems, including boilers, economizers, pumps, valves, piping systems, and marine construction materials.

  • Excellent ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and sketches.

  • Proficient in project cost tracking and scheduling, with a keen eye for detail.

  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with domestic and international clients.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project).

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call shifts, as required by project demands.

  • Demonstrated adherence to safety standards in high-demand environments, including shipyards and vessel interiors.

Preferred Candidate:

  • Years of Experience: 3–6 years

  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree or higher diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
