American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is seeking a Senior Surveyor I in Dubai to conduct inspections and surveys of vessels and marine structures. The role involves ensuring compliance with ABS classification standards and statutory regulations related to safety, pollution prevention, and vessel integrity. The surveyor will engage with clients, lead inspections, and provide technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct surveys on vessels, platforms, and marine structures.

  • Assess compliance with classification and statutory regulations.

  • Prepare detailed technical reports on inspections and audits.

  • Advise clients on regulatory and classification requirements.

  • Monitor the quality of surveys and provide leadership to junior surveyors.

  • Stay updated on industry developments and regulatory changes.

  • Promote ABS services and capabilities to potential clients.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, physical science, or marine-related field.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Surveyor II or 8+ years in a related engineering or survey role within an IACS classification society.

  • Knowledge of ABS rules, statutory regulations, and safety policies.

  • Ability to read engineering plans and understand shipbuilding practices.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Experience with ship engineering systems and vessel operations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb vertical ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces.

  • Physical strength to lift up to 25 lbs (11.34 kgs).

  • Comfortable working in industrial environments with PPE.

  • Subject to annual physical fitness assessments.

Work Environment:

  • On-site inspections at ports, shipyards, and offshore structures.

  • Travel may be required based on operational needs.
