American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer I to join their engineering team in Dubai. This full-time, on-site role involves leading complex engineering projects, conducting technical reviews and analyses, and mentoring junior engineers. The position is ideal for professionals with a strong background in structural engineering, offshore systems, or naval architecture, particularly in classification and compliance settings.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and day-to-day direction to engineering staff and oversee project assignments

Conduct and supervise design reviews, risk assessments, and technical analyses

Ensure high-quality service delivery, technical accuracy, and timely project completion

Develop innovative approaches to engineering challenges and recommend improvements

Guide junior engineers and review their work for quality and consistency

Support development and updates to ABS Rules and standards

Maintain communication with internal/external technical specialists and stakeholders
-
Manage project documentation, billing, and customer relations

Promote and implement ABS Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management Systems
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Ocean Engineering (Master’s preferred)

10–15 years of experience in a shipyard, consulting office, classification society, or related industry

Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and industry practices

Familiarity with offshore structures, stability analysis, and relevant software

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills

Professional or chartered engineer license preferred

Experience with jack-up rigs and stability assessments is a plus

Understanding of ABS rules and classification services is desirable
