American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer I to join their engineering team in Dubai. This full-time, on-site role involves leading complex engineering projects, conducting technical reviews and analyses, and mentoring junior engineers. The position is ideal for professionals with a strong background in structural engineering, offshore systems, or naval architecture, particularly in classification and compliance settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and day-to-day direction to engineering staff and oversee project assignments

• Conduct and supervise design reviews, risk assessments, and technical analyses

• Ensure high-quality service delivery, technical accuracy, and timely project completion

• Develop innovative approaches to engineering challenges and recommend improvements

• Guide junior engineers and review their work for quality and consistency

• Support development and updates to ABS Rules and standards

• Maintain communication with internal/external technical specialists and stakeholders

• Manage project documentation, billing, and customer relations

• Promote and implement ABS Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management Systems

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Ocean Engineering (Master’s preferred)

• 10–15 years of experience in a shipyard, consulting office, classification society, or related industry

• Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and industry practices

• Familiarity with offshore structures, stability analysis, and relevant software

• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills

• Professional or chartered engineer license preferred

• Experience with jack-up rigs and stability assessments is a plus

• Understanding of ABS rules and classification services is desirable
