Senior Accountant

McDermott International, Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in Dubai. This is a full-time, on-site position ideal for a qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent professional with a strong grasp of accounting and taxation principles, particularly in accordance with IFRS.

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in enhancing our accounting functions and ensuring tax and statutory compliance across various jurisdictions. This individual will also serve as a resource for junior colleagues, applying their experience to complex accounting tasks and improving financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate tax and accounting records on a jurisdictional or entity basis.

  • Prepare standalone and consolidated statutory accounts for large legal entities, ensuring audit compliance and timely filing.

  • Manage preparation, review, and filing of complex tax returns across relevant jurisdictions.

  • Calculate corporate tax liabilities based on actual and forecasted income or expenses.

  • Arrange timely payments of advance taxes and settle tax liabilities.

  • Coordinate with external advisors to finalize tax assessments and secure clearance certificates.

  • Reconcile indirect tax accounts in the general ledger monthly.

  • Prepare and submit WHT, VAT, and service tax returns in compliance with local legislation.

  • Handle supporting documentation such as tax deduction certificates, challans, and employee tax filings.

  • Support bid preparation by reviewing tax calculations to ensure comprehensive tax coverage.

  • Participate in ad hoc departmental projects and initiatives as required.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent qualification from a recognized international institute

  • 3–4 years of post-qualification experience in a relevant accounting role

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and international tax regulations

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proven ability to work independently and manage strict deadlines

  • Capacity to multitask and handle high-pressure reporting cycles

  • Experience sharing expertise and leading initiatives within the accounting team
