The University of Khorfakkan is seeking a Security and Governance Officer to join the IT department. The role involves incident response, penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and managing security compliance across university systems and IT infrastructure. This position also supports the development and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Key Responsibilities:

Support IT team in incident response, investigations, and reporting tasks

Conduct penetration testing on new and existing applications to identify vulnerabilities

Perform vulnerability assessments and prioritize risks for timely remediation

Collaborate with internal IT auditors to assess risks and address audit discrepancies

Ensure authorized access and investigate security violations
-
Conduct system audits to verify compliance with security policies
-
Advocate for security awareness and integrate best practices into work processes
-
Develop and maintain IT Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity plans
-
Implement security improvements and solutions to address future requirements
-
Oversee deployment and integration of new security solutions
-
Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data across systems and databases
-
Foster collaboration with business and technical teams to meet security goals
Qualifications & Experience Required:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT Systems Security, or related field (Master’s preferred)

Minimum 5 years of experience in an Information Security role

Experience in penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and risk remediation
-
Knowledge of ITIL and IT governance frameworks
-
Proven management skills in budgeting, policy development, and personnel administration

Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders

Certifications such as CISM, CISSP, GSEC, or equivalent are required
