Role Description:
We are looking for a School Counsellor for the Al Danah Charter School (AY25-26). The role involves providing students with support in personal, social, and academic growth. The School Counsellor will also assist students with career counseling and mental health support to enhance their well-being and ensure their emotional and academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
Main Accountabilities:

Support students in enhancing personal, social, and academic growth.

Monitor the progress of individual students and address their needs.

Collaborate with parents to discuss student behavior or support requirements.

Prevent bullying and assist victims of bullying.
-
Assist students in developing job search skills like resume writing and interview techniques.
-
Provide therapeutic intervention and referral to external services as necessary.

Offer preventive and developmental counseling to address student problems before they worsen.

Assist in conflict resolution and identify cases of domestic abuse or family issues affecting student development.
Career Counseling:

Help students explore and select appropriate career paths.

Provide information to assist students in making informed academic choices related to their interests.

Maintain a career exploration library/database for student use.

Coordinate university access and applications for students.
Personal and Mental Health Counseling:

Provide support to individual students and groups on social, emotional, and developmental issues.
Qualifications:
-
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Bachelor of Science/Education in Social Work

Bachelor of Counselling
-
Bachelor of Psychology with post-graduate qualifications in counseling

Minimum Experience:
-
At least 2 years of experience in school counseling or other related counseling roles.

Skills and Knowledge:

License: Appropriate license for student counseling.

Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills with both students and parents.

Organizational Skills: Demonstrable ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

Emotional and Physical Energy: Ability to handle a variety of student concerns with professionalism and empathy.
