The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Registrar to join the Culture Programming Department under the Abu Dhabi Public Art – Art Commissions Unit. This role involves managing all aspects of collections management, documentation, logistics, and installation of public art projects. The ideal candidate will ensure the proper care, handling, and documentation of artworks, including both owned and borrowed pieces, while coordinating closely with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for the Abu Dhabi Public Art Collection, including cataloguing, inventory tracking, and documentation in DCT’s CMS/DAMS systems.

  • Coordinate international and local shipments, ensuring compliance with customs and regulatory requirements.

  • Plan and supervise artwork installations and ensure adherence to local regulations and safety standards.

  • Draft, review, and process contracts, agreements, and reports for collection management and logistics.

  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and consultants to implement effective collection management strategies.

  • Support insurance policy evaluations, risk assessments, and maintain comprehensive condition and installation reports.

  • Supervise freelance registrars and conservators, ensuring high standards in documentation and conservation practices.

  • Adhere to DCT’s EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) policies and participate in safety programs.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Museum Studies, Museology, Art History, or Preventive Conservation (Master’s preferred).

  • Experience: 3–5 years in museums, collection management, or art logistics, preferably with contemporary or monumental artworks.

  • Knowledge:

    • Museum registration, documentation, and international logistics standards.

    • Customs control and international shipping procedures.

    • Collections management databases such as KeEmu, EMu, Adlib, or TMS.

    • Insurance policies and risk management for artworks.

  • Skills:

    • Excellent command of English (Arabic desirable).

    • Strong proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Suite.

    • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and work under pressure.
