Quality Control Engineer
Norsk Hydro Dubai , UAE

Norsk Hydro is seeking a Quality Control Engineer for their Windows, Doors, and Facades division. This role involves ensuring that aluminium products meet the company’s quality standards and industry regulations. The engineer will conduct material inspections, testing finished products, and resolve quality issues. Additionally, the role will focus on process optimization and continuous improvement in the production of aluminium-based systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and direct activities related to quality standards for architectural aluminium works in building projects.

  • Support fabrication teams on-site by conducting inspections and ensuring adherence to quality procedures.

  • Provide training and guidance to fabrication teams on standard fabrication procedures to maintain high-quality output.

  • Develop and maintain documentation for quality and reliability data, providing detailed reports after site visits and training sessions.

  • Coordinate with consultants and site representatives to address quality-related issues.

  • Conduct material analysis and assist technical teams with preparing materials and documentation for technical submittals.

  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Manager.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Vocational education in mechanics will also be considered.

  • Certifications in quality control (e.g., Six Sigma, CQE) are desirable.

  • 3-5 years of experience in quality control, specifically in aluminium, fenestration (windows/doors), or façade industries.

  • Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS), ISO standards, and construction regulations.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD to read and interpret drawings.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience conducting root cause analysis.

  • Knowledge of industry standards for windows, doors, and facades (e.g., EN 14351-1, CE marking).

  • Proficiency in quality management software (e.g., SAP, Minitab) and MS Office tools.

  • Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken); proficiency in Arabic is preferred.

  • Occasional travel to supplier or project sites may be required.
