Project Manager in Ethiopia

Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to lead a design-build project for the supply of cash centers in Ethiopia. The role involves managing a team of site project managers, ensuring timely project delivery within scope, budget, and schedule, while also adhering to contractual and regulatory standards. The position is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the project duration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of sub-project managers and experts to ensure project execution aligns with agreed scope, budget, and timeline.

  • Serve as the contractor’s representative to all client stakeholders.

  • Provide strategic direction and decision-making support for project teams.

  • Coordinate efforts across internal teams, external contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Oversee the quality control processes and conduct regular site inspections and audits.

  • Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve issues to minimize disruptions.

  • Handle contract administration, including variations, claims, and extensions of time under the FIDIC Yellow Book 2017 contract terms.

  • Manage project financials, including cost control, cash flow, and expenditures.

  • Prepare regular project status reports for key stakeholders and ensure proper escalation of issues as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical or Civil Engineering.

  • Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 10 years in project management, preferably in technical system installations.

    • Experience managing large-scale projects abroad, including intralogistics or production system installations (e.g., material flow control systems, warehouses).

    • Familiarity with FIDIC contracts, particularly the Yellow Book 2017.

    • Knowledge of cash center operations and customer requirements is highly beneficial.
